Ranger's Embossing Powders...they're not just shiny!
Ranger has a large variety of
embossing powders--each with specific features to
create exactly the look you want on cards and
scrapbook pages. Try using the same stamped image on
white cardstock with different powders and discover
the numerous looks you can achieve. Stamp on black
cardstock to see how the same embossing powders
create a very different effect!
Ranger was the first to bring heat embossing to
rubber stampers in 1980. We originally started with
one color, Clear. Now we have created well over 100
powders to choose from ranging in finishes from
shiny, metallic, puffy, textured, antiqued,
pearlized and glitzy. All of Ranger's Embossing
Powders are non-toxic and acid free for use in
Memory Albums and Photo Journals.
Types of Embossing Powders:
Ranger Original Embossing Powders – Ranger’s
original embossing powder product line has a variety
of embossing powders that create raised metallic,
sparkly and opaque finishes.
Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel™ (UTEE™) - is a
specially formulated, large particle embossing
powder. Use a heat tool to produce an extra-thick
embossed image or melt UTEE in the Ranger Melting
Pot®. Pour into molds to create 3-D artifacts or dip
to coat a variety of objects for one-of-a-kind art
and jewelry.
UTEE Brightz™ - These Ultra Thick Embossing
Enamels have an opaque, pearlescent quality and come
in breathtakingly vibrant colors. They’ll add extra
shimmer and pizazz to all your Melt Art® and
embossing projects.
Super Fine Detail™ Embossing Powder – Fine
embossing powders ideal for very detailed stamp
images.
Embossing Pearls™ - Pearlized, interference
embossing powders for subtle, pearl elegance on
light papers, and more dramatic pearlized effects on
dark papers.
Adirondack® Embossing Powder – Semi-matte finish
that coordinates beautifully with the rest of the
Adirondack product line.
Distress™ Embossing Powder – Specifically
designed to match Distress Ink™ colors, these
embossing powders have a special property that
creates a matte, textured look. After embossing,
simply rub off the special release crystals to
create a weathered, worn effect.
Ancient Golds™ Embossing Powder – Metallic golds
in a variety of finishes from bright to antique.
Also included are clear-based embossing powders with
encrusted finishes for a golden, glittery effect.
Embossing Antiquities™ – Semi-matte and matte
embossing powder with an all-over even texture that
achieves the look of faux stone. Some have a mixture
of metallic in it for added sheen.
Embossing Puffs™ – Create a warm, fuzzy look
that puffs when heated for surface dimension.
Embossing Glitter™ – Glitter you can emboss!
It's in a clear base to let the color ink, glue, and
paper underneath show through.
Embossing Tinsel™ – Show glitz and glamour with
glitter in an opaque or pearl embossing powder base.
Try it on white or light cardstock or pile on the
glitz on dark cardstock.
Tips When Embossing:
• Embossing powders can be used over any type of
water-based ink including dye, pigment and
embossing inks. When working with dye ink, move quickly since dye
ink is fast-drying.
• To stamp with embossing ink, begin by inking your
stamp with
Emboss It™,
Big & Bossy™ Clear,
Big & Bossy™ Two-Tone,
Big & Bossy™ Tinted, or
Distress™ Embossing Ink. Stamp image onto
matte or Inkssentials™ Gloss Paper.
• Use scrap paper under your stamped image when
pouring embossing powder. Remove excess
powder by sliding it off the card surface onto the scrap paper. Tap
the back of the image with
your finger to release additional excess powder that doesn’t stick
to the embossing ink. Be sure to
return the excess embossing powder on the scrap paper back to the
jar for the next use – no
waste!
• If any stray embossing powder is still on the
paper, use a small paint brush to whisk it off of
the
surface – otherwise it will melt onto the paper when heat embossed.
• Remember, when using embossing ink – clear ink
will not affect the color of the embossing
powder. Tinted inks might affect the color of the embossing
depending upon how clear or light
the base of the embossing powder is. For instance, if the tinted
ink has a blue base, and the
embossing powder has a clear base, the finished embossing may
appear to have a blue tint.
• Use the Ranger Inkssentials™
Non-Stick Craft Sheet™ to protect your work
surface when heat
embossing your stamped image.
• Embossing powders can be melted with the
Heat It™ Craft Tool or in the
Ranger Melting Pot®!
• When using the
Heat It™ Craft Tool, first warm it up for a few
seconds before aiming at the
paper to emboss. Hold the craft tool a few inches away from the
paper surface and heat evenly.
As soon as you see the embossing change – whether raised, metallic,
glitter, or matte, the
heating is completed.
• When using UTEE, slowly bring the craft tool down
to the paper surface from several inches
above to warm the UTEE and help it melt more easily.
• Remember when using pigment ink on glossy paper,
you must use embossing powder and heat
emboss or the pigment ink will never dry on this non-porous
surface.
• Don’t be afraid to mix and match embossing powders
to create your own recipes/combinations
for added fun! Check out
Ranger’s Embossing Powders Recipe Book for
ideas.
• Embossing powders can be used on paper, paper
mache, wood, clay and more!
