Instructions

(1) Apply Faux Mosaic Grout to a nine inch square of chipboard using a foam paintbrush.  Paint with small strokes and flip the brush back and forth as you add the grout.  Use a pouncing motion for added texture before the grout dries. Clean brush with water before grout dries. Let the grout dry completely.

(2) Dab on Espresso, Aqua, Denim and Snow Cap White paints randomly across the surface of the dried grout.

(3) Use a Mini Mister filled with water to spritz the painted surface and use a square of Cut n’ Dry Foam to blend the paints together across the entire surface.  Set aside to dry.

(4) While paint is drying, cut bird, leaves and berries from patterned paper.  Cut out letters from an old magazine to spell out your journaling or quote.  Alphabet stickers are used to add a name to the layout.  These letters, cut images and stickers will be your “faux tiles”.

(5) Lay out stickers and cut pieces on the dried textured surface to determine placement, then glue them down.  Use a thin coat of Faux Mosaic Glue on both the grouted surface and on the back of each paper tile. Place each “faux tile” down and smooth with the brush. Work small sections at a time so that the glue does not set faster than the tiles are applied.  Be sure the glue is on top and under the tiles and decoupage the papers to the surface.  Apply a light coat of the glue over the entire surface to bond the images.  Allow time to dry well to a matte finish.

(6) Once the glue has dried, apply Stickles Crystal Stickles Glitter Glue to the wing portion of the bird image and Turquoise Stickles to the bird’s eye.  Let dry.

(7) Apply the Faux Mosaic Glaze to all of the letters, cut images and alphabet stickers.  Outline each piece before filling in the center.  Do not glaze between the tiles and pop any air bubbles immediately with a pin.  Allow to dry to a clear and shiny finish.

(8) Apply additional coats of Glaze as desired to create additional dimension.  Be sure to allow each coat to dry thoroughly before adding the next coat of Glaze; it will initially be cloudy, but as it cures, it will become clear.

(9) When the glaze is dry add photos to the top left of the layout using foam tape.

(10) Use Espresso Paint Dabber to paint the edges of the chipboard and then add a metal book corner embellishment to each corner.

(11) Place alphabet beads and a glass bead on stickpin and cover pointed end with end cap.  Roll the end cap on Big & Bossy Clear Embossing Pad and dip into Gold embossing powder.  Tap off excess and emboss with Craft Tool.  When cool, adhere the beaded pin to the top right of the layout.  Set mosaic layout aside.

(12) Cover a ten and one half inch square of chipboard with black cardstock using a glue stick.  Burnish well.  Use Espresso Paint Dabber to paint the edges of the chipboard.  Cut a ten inch square of patterned paper and paint the edges with Espresso Paint Dabber.  Center and adhere the patterned square to the black chipboard square using a glue stick.

(13) Cover a nine and one quarter inch square of chipboard with red cardstock using a glue stick.  Burnish well.  Use Espresso Paint Dabber to paint the edges of the chipboard.  Center and adhere the red chipboard square to the black chipboard square using strong double-sided tape.

(14) Center and adhere the Faux Mosaic piece to the red chipboard square using strong double-sided tape to complete the layout.
