Instructions

This fun, funky Garden Fairy takes very little time, and can be adapted to any color scheme and your favorite florals.

DOLL
Put on your plastic gloves to protect your skin. In a sink or basin, spray doll randomly with Adirondack Color Wash in Wild Plum (or any color of your choice), leaving some sections uncolored. Blot the doll with a paper towel to help blend the color. If your color is too saturated, you can blot the doll with a wet paper towel to remove as much color as you need. Spray the uncolored areas of the doll with Adirondack Color Wash in Cranberry (or your own choice). Don’t worry about overlapping the colors, as they will blend nicely. Blot with paper towel until desired look is achieved. Place doll on a Non-stick Craft Sheet or a protected surface. Dry with a Heat it Craft Tool. This process will also heat-set the inks.

SKIRT
Take your large flower and disassemble it. Put aside one petal “section” for the dolls knees. Set aside the base of the flower and the center petal section for the hat. With 4 medium to large sizes of the petal sections, cut a hole in the center so you can slip them onto the doll like a skirt. When you have your flower “skirt” finished, glue petals in place from underneath.

HEART
Carefully squeeze a couple drops of Cranberry and Wild Plum (or colors of your choice) Adirondack Alcohol Inks into a small plastic baggie. Place white embroidery thread into the baggie and shake until colored. Shake thread out of bag and onto your Non-stick Craft Sheet. Dry with the Heat it Tool. Draw a heart shape on your doll with a fine point permanent marker. Sew in a heart shape onto doll.

KNEES
From the remaining petal section, cut off each individual petal. Sew petals around each of the doll’s knees.

BEADS & BUTTONS
Put a couple more drops of Cranberry and Wild Plum Adirondack Alchol Inks into your baggie. Drop in seed beads and buttons. Shake until coated well. Dump out onto Non-stick Craft Sheet and allow to air dry. When dry, sew the 2 large colored buttons onto doll’s knees. Use the colored seed beads, the small colored button, and leaf beads to create a belt. Sew onto doll so it falls at the top of the flower skirt.

HAIR
The decorative fibers you chose should color coordinate with your doll. You can also dye them using the Color Wash sprays as well. Just be sure to heat set after coloring. Cut fibers into 6” lengths and lay them on the table in 3 sets of 6-10 strands. Each set should have mixed types of fibers in it. Tie each set in the middle with thread, then sew each section to the doll’s head.

HAT
Take the base of the flower, invert it and paint the bottom with Adirondack Dimensional Pearls in Lettuce. Use the remaining center petal section to top off the hat. Glue together, then glue onto doll’s head.
