(1) With
a medium sized paintbrush, paint the entire surface
of the canvas with Faux Mosaic Grout. While the
grout dries, begin to prepare mosaic “tiles”.
While working on the tiles check the grout and
when dry, apply a second grout coat. Note: Do
not “paint on” the grout, but dab
it on heavily to create a rough texture.
(2) On
linen cardstock approximately eight inches by
ten inches - use Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers
Pool. Don’t dab. Squeeze lightly to
release a little bit of color and then sweep in
broad strokes. The goal is NOT to create an even
color but rather lines and streaks of color. Make
the lines in various directions.
(3) Add Adirondack® Acrylic
Paint Dabbers Aqua to some areas for variety.
(4) When dry, cut cardstock
into small pieces of “tile”. Vary
the size, shape and angles.
(5) Use a small piece
of paper to create tiles for the grass, using
Lettuce and Citrus Paint Dabbers, making only
vertical (up and down) strokes. When dry, cut
out into rectangles.
(6) On
the avocado linen cardstock stamp Leaves image
several times.
(7) Cut stamped avocado cardstock
into small oval shapes resembling leaves of varying
size. As you cut, make sure to get different
areas of the stamped image.
(8) To
create tree trunk, cover a section of cardstock
with Adirondack Terra Cotta Dye Ink Stamp Pad
using a square of Cut n’ Dry Foam
to apply the ink.
(9) Stamp
Romantic Swirl with Espresso Paint Dabbers. Paint
over with Snow Cap in long vertical strokes to
mute the colors. When dry, create the trunk by
cutting paper into two long strips and two skinny
triangles.
(10) Plan
out the mosaic by laying out the grass, tree trunk,
leaves and sky. Decide if more
tiles are needed; add more where necessary.
(11) Starting
with the grass, use a clean paint brush and dab
a thick coat of Faux Mosaic Glue over a section
of the grout. Continue
gluing down the carefully spaced pieces one at
a time across the bottom.
(12) Next,
glue the tree trunk, and then work up to the leaves.
(13) Last,
glue the sky tiles and set aside to dry.
(14) Once
all the tiles have dried completely, use the Faux
Mosaic Tile Glaze.
(15) Start
from the top left or right corner and work your
way toward you. (This way you’re less likely
to put your sleeve into the fresh glaze!).
(16) Open
the cap. Do
not shake. Trace around the edges of the
tile and then fill in with the glaze.
(17) Work
slowly covering each tile until the entire piece
is completed. Place in a SAFE place to
dry completely (usually overnight).
(18) Once
completely dry, add a second coat of Faux Mosaic
Tile Glaze.
(19) When
the second coat is also dry, use Stickles™ Glitter
Glue Christmas Red to add “berries” between
the leaves.
(20) Option:
when dry, insert into an eight inch by ten inch
frame without the glass.
